Tondo, Manila – July 12, 2025 A meaningful healthcare initiative took place at the Archdiocese of Sto. Niño as the Confradia de San Jose, under the leadership of Mr. Jon Magpayo, successfully organized an Acupuncture and Wellness Medical Mission. The event focused on Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM), providing holistic health services to elderly and low-income residents.
The mission was led by Dr. Heejeong Baek from Korea and Dr. Aneliza Santiago from the Philippines, supported by wellness professionals Pamela Sacamos, Apple-Vine Abenoja, Marites Bredonia, Edgar Barcelona, and Oliver Delacruz. Services included acupuncture, therapeutic massage, and iridology consultations, which helped identify internal conditions and provided pain relief.
The outreach drew significant attendance, demonstrating a strong demand for accessible holistic care. Notably, Fr. Emman Avila received iridology and acupuncture services during the event. Many participants, especially those with chronic pain, expressed appreciation for the natural, non-invasive approach.
Educational sessions were also conducted, promoting preventive wellness, natural therapies, and integrative health practices. The mission empowered participants to take proactive steps in managing their own health.
This initiative affirms the Church’s commitment to addressing physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. Inspired by its success, Confradia de San Jose plans to conduct similar future missions in underserved communities.
