신화사에 따르면 허난(河南)성에 내린 폭우로 24시간 넘게 고립됐던 한국인이 23일 구조된 것으로 확인됐다. 허난성 신샹(新鄕)시는 지난 22일 새벽부터 쏟아진 폭우로 도시 전체가 물에 잠겼고 이 과정에서 집에 머물던 선옥경 허난사범대 교수도 피해를 봤다. 23일 오후 구조대원들이 작은 보트를 타고 도착했고, 선교수는 다른 주민들과 함께 구조돼 임시 숙소로 활용중인 인근 학교로 이동했다. 학교에 도착한 선옥경 교수는 "허난사범대에서 동료들이 생활용품을 보내주겠다고 전화했다"며 "크게 감동받았다"고 말했다. 선 교수는 정전이 된 상태로 집 안에 갇혀 있었을 때 60대 중국인 이웃 주민이 어려움을 극복하는데 큰 힘이 됐다면서 "이웃과 함께 대화를 나누고 음식을 전하며 홍수에 관한 소식을 주고 받았다"고 말했다. 그는 또 "이웃 주민은 곧 정부가 우리를 구하러 올 테니 두려워하지 말라고 안심시켰다"고 밝혔다. 허난성 응급관리청에 따르면 지난 16일부터 쏟아진 폭우와 홍수로 현재까지 750여만 명의 허난성 주민이 피해를 입었으며, 23일 밤 기준 56명이 사망하고 5명의 실종자가 발생했다.
